Hi all,
Just wondering if this is possible for a 2005 server to subscribe to 2008 publisher. No 2008-only data types are being used in the published db, so it would appear theoretically possible. Can I do this?

If so...and if in the future 2008 exclusive data types were used, would replication automatically attempt a cast or would/could I intercept the replication code and either do a cast or omit the field (replace with nulls) and just use the data I can get?

Thanks,

Yes it'll work just fine. I'm not sure what would happen with SQL 2008 specific data types. You would probably need to hack the CREATE TABLE statements in the snapshot folder at the worst.

mrdenny,
Thanks very much. That's what I was thinking but I don't have a test environment with both versions yet.
