I have GP Dynamics V6.0 installed in my work place. We have done heavy customizations to this. I have made a machine ready with 2000 server and SQL installed on it. I want to make this machine a replica of our current environment. I have a lousy GP partner who doesn't know much and always gives me wrong info. He told me install GP on ur machine from scratch, make account framework same as what u had with ur old system, don't install customization and restore a backup of your original GP database into this new SQL server. I did this but now i get erros saying it cannot find those modifed forms because dictionary is not loaded. I can't even disable security for the modified forms because i get the same errors there too.

I also need help on how to uninstall a 3rd party product that i installed in GP? Please advise

What's the best way that i can get my new machine as a replica of my original system? I was under the impression that i would install a client on this new machine pointing to the original system, install SQL on new machine, replicate the databases and change the ODBC to point to new SQL server and everything would be OK. Is this correct? Please help.

Do what your partner said. You will need to remove security to the modifications. If you are getting errors, copy the modifications over, remove the security, then remove the customizations. Not sure why you'd remove customizations though if you want exact replica.

To remove third party product you will have to edit the Dynamics.set file on the workstation(s). (make a backup first) Right click on the file, click on Edit. The top number represents the number of products installed. Reduce this number by one (or the number of third party products you are removing). Find the product name in the next few lines. Delete the line with the product name and the line above it which represents the product ID. You will want to know what ID it is and what order it was in before you deleted it. In the lines with the paths, you will need to find the three lines corresponding to that product. They should be in order as they were in above. Sometimes they have the product number in them. Delete those three lines.

Close and save the file. Optionally, you can also delete the files associated with the paths you deleted there at the end.

Thanks a ton stef. I want to remove customizations because now i want to upgrade and go to new version without customizations.

Since we are on the topic, can you guide me to where i can find intructions to upgrade from V6 to V7.5 and then from 7.5 to 8 with MS SQL server. I searched on customersource but found instructions for c-tree and per.SQL but not for MS SQL databases.
Thanks again. The security resetting worked, just unmarked and marked all security again and the errors disappeared.

Did you search in KnowledgeBase? Do a search in knowledgebase for Upgrade. Sorry, I don't have a direct link.

Yes i did search in knowledge base, no success
