I've got 4 servers in the same tree, and one of them has lost it's DS replica. Some info:
Server1 - NW5SP6a DS7.62 Master replica
Server2 - NW5SP6a DS7.62 R/W replica
Server3 - NW6.5SP1a DS10550.98 R/W replica
Server4 - NW6.5SP2 DS10551.13 no replica (bounced after SP2 installed, was in Ring then)

Server4 had an R/W replica until I bounced it last Friday (it's a testbed, I was making sure I'd edited the autoexec.ncf without typos). Now it sees the server holding the Master replica, but is not part of the Ring. It shows a Limber Status error of -602.

I've run DSREPAIR from all 4 servers. When running Time Sync, the 3 in the ring show the Server4 as Replica Depth-1.

I'm at a loss as to how to persue this. Any suggestions?
TIA

Did you see TID ? It says to make sure the Master Replica is on the latest version of eDir. Your Master replica is on 7.62.

Replica Depth -1 means it doesn't hold a replica. Look at this TID.. it explains it a little. TID
I'd probably worry about the 602 error first though.. The replica depth -1 is most likely caused by your original 602 problem.

OK, I promoted Server3 to Master, forced sync, all servers in replica report no problems. Server4 still has no replica. Now it's reporting errors 601, 603, and 634 (from dstrace=debug). 601 and 603 are cosmetic according to TID10016572. I can find nothing about the 634 error.

And for the life of me I can't remember where I was seeing that Limber Status error of -602.

I'm lost. Please, please help me.

Well, I pulled up NDS Manager from one of the NW5.0 servers (since I don't have it on the NW6.5 servers)and added the stinkin' replica to Server4. All seems good at the moment.

I'm having a rediculously hard time getting these 6.5 servers to work properly in our existing 5.0 tree. Now I'm off to try to figure out why I don't have a Certificate Server anywhere (and therefore can't run iManager).

Thanks for the help, Marv.

634 isnt the best error

we had this when our time went a bit wonkey and tree went to 2032 - ended up having to xk2 it ( fairly easy but not something i would do unless no other option) - i think we basically had it as if you chase around the ring on each server - one server thought it was master and the others didnt - check the sync from each one and make sure they all think the same

i would fix this before your ca - and really recommend getting all ds the same - or at worse a mix of 2 but never more - it results in the strangest of issues

i could be wrong but ca 's started at 5.1
so server 3 should have had it
it's easy enough to recreate and there are lots of tids

I've got DSRepair with zero errors on all 4 servers. The ring looks great at the moment, every server agrees with every other. I'm planning on bringing Server3 to SP2 but it's in production (Groupwise 6.5) and I'd like to iron out all the problems on my Server4 testbed so I don't have to bounce GW more than once.

Yeah, there's at least a thousand TIDs on the CA biz and I'm drowning in them. Jeez, I just want iManager and a freakin' Apache webserver. I've put Apache on Linux before with only minor problems.

Since these cheapskates I work for won't shell out $350 and let me call Novell, I've utterly wiped out the OrgCA and am trying to reinstall from CD. Oh, Joy! PKI Install errors out with a -601!

I think I'll go on vacation until they let me pay for a service call. I don't need this frustration.

imanage on 6.5 is a pain - read the readme when you install it - there are bits in there that fix it - no tids worthy of note
no idea why as 6 was simple and bulletproof for imanage

the sp2 - is solid - i'm slapping it on all of ours and no probs - a bit more hungry on the memory - works no probs with groupwise 6.5

I'll check that readme, thanks. I do have an OrgCA now and LDAP is running, so I'm slowly making headway. I've lead the subject of this thread way off course, I'll start a new thread for the other stuff.

Thanks again Terry, and you too Marvin; Youse guys is da best.
