I hope I am posting in the correct forum. My business has an outside IT company that host our email and our server. The problem that keeps surfacing is that we receive the same emails from the same companies(multiple companies), multiple times. We have had 100's of duplicates of many emails. Needless to say this shuts us out of being able to find a single email that we may need to read. Not every email that comes in is duplicated as of yet. Some emails have the wrong time time and date. This has been giong on for a week and the IT support company has cleaned and scanned for viruses. It did not help. Is it possible their server is causing this?

Are you viewing the mail via a web interface or downloading it via a mail client like Outlook/Eudora/etc? If you are using a client, try using the web interface to see if the problem still exists.

Sounds like the email server isn't fully downloading the email to the client. Presumably it cuts out just before it finishes downloading so the delete command isn't being sent and the email is still on the server so it keeps getting re downloaded.

I know we have had a similar problem and that seemed to be what was happening. I would check the email server logs to see if anything is there.

The problem was happeing because we are on an ISDN line (no ADSL in the area yet) and the main link to the outside for the server is through xp's ICS service. The email server (in house) has to connect through another PC, and this kept crashing so the server never finished downloading email, leaving the messages on the remote server.
