I need any advice for replacing our only domain controller which is a windows 2000 server with a new windows 2003 r2 server. I know i have to upgarde the active directory to be compatable with a 2003 active directory enviroment. I then plan on running dcpromo on the new server to make it a back up dc. I need to make the 2003 machine the global catalog server and sieze the FSMo role. DSN should be set up and then replication can take place. Once replicated I can run dcpromo on the windows 200 server to demote it, and the I can promote the windows 2003 machine to the primary controller. What am I missing here?

Apart from a full tape backup and a large cup of coffee - nothing.

Would bring the new server online as a member first, then promote to DC / update schema.

Good Luck! :)
