We will be retiring a W2K DC sometime soon and I'd like to get some feedback on how to replace this server. Basically the current DC is about 4 years old, and is on a server that's about 6 or 7 years old.

It will be replaced with a new HP Compaq DL380 server. It's only role is as a DC and a DNS box at our disaster recovery location. It is connected to production via a T1, sitting on a separate segment in the LAN.

My Questions:

1) Can I just down the old one, give the new one the same name as the old one, without having to rebuild intersite replication?
2) Should I just give the new dc a new name, and have automatically build intersite replication?

If anyone has experience doing this, I'd appreciate the feedback.
