Tonight I created two subdomains:

When I uploaded the index.htm or index.html file I'm still getting the:

"Great Success! Apache is working on your cPanel® and WHM™ Server

If you can see this page, then the people who manage this server have installed cPanel and WebHost Manager (WHM) which use the Apache Web server software and the Apache Interface to OpenSSL (mod_ssl) successfully..."

What Do I need to do to get rid of the apache page?

I'm guessing that your hosting provider created the DocumentRoot for those subdomains where you didn't expect them to be. Some providers create the subdomain's directory inside your main domain's DocumentRoot. What seems to happening is that when the subdomain is created, a test page is put in there until you replace it.
