I currently have 2 x 4000m and plan on replacing at least one of them, possibly both.
unit 1 is in my server room and has 2 x ProCurve Switch Gigabit-SX Module (J4113A). Unit 2 is in a networking closet on another floor and has 1 x ProCurve Switch Gigabit-SX Module (J4113A).
My plan currently is to replace Unit 1 with another ProCurve (unknown which model, but def going to be Gigabit interface). I dunno if I'm going to replace Unit 2 at this time. I was searching around and not really sure which Fiber module I can use. I'm leaning towards the 4208vl, possibly a 2910al series.
After some research, would I purchase HP ProCurve Switch vl 1-Port 10-GbE X2 Module (J8766A) and HP ProCurve 10-GbE X2-SC ER Optic (J8438A) or HP ProCurve 10-GbE X2-SC SR Optic (J8436A)????
Because my current Fiber transceivers are 1000-Base, will something in the 10-GbE be compatible with my current Fiber? Is this even relevant???
I have been trying to get in touch with HP Sales for a few days but haven't received a response. Can someone help me? I hope I gave you enough info or asked the right questions. Im new to Fiber connectivity as well.
