Is there a way to automatically replace one paragraph style with another in InDesign? In Xpress when I deleted one style it asked if I wanted to replace it with another but I can't find any equivalent in ID. Thanks!

Why not use find/change? You can search for any paragraph style and replace it with another.

I would like to know how to combine the character and paragraph styles in one key stroke.

I currently have to highlight the text, then click the character style I want, then also click the paragraph style I want.

How can I apply both character AND paragraph styles with one key stroke?

Thank you

Why would you need to apply both Paragraph Styles and Character Styles at once? Why don't you define the character within the Paragraph Style?

Character Styles are used for inline deviations of Paragraph Styles or where no Paragraph Style exists.

Why is everyone in this forum responding to me as picklefish?

I am thankful to have gotten some feedback somwhere ... Adobe's forums are massive, bottomless and useless.

Thanks for your attention picklefish ...

I have realized (I already applied the character format in the paragraph styles tab) that if both character and paragraph styles are assigned through their respective tabs, the character format in the paragraph tab will not activate ... the character styles from the character tab override.

I deleted all the character styles and kept only the paragraph styles (with respective character styles formatted within). Now my character styles have applied correctly.

Redundancy on my part caused the problem.

thank you,
i am spardacus ... no really i am
