Replacing mirrored LVM drive

Hello all in Tru64 land.
I have two drives in a Tru64 LVM mirror. One of these drives has failed and I require some assistance in replacing it without destroying the good copy.
I understand this cannot be done as a "hot-swap" activity but do not understand the correct procedures or any gotchas.
Can somebody please point me towards some docs which will explain this procedure or ply me with sound advice on how to approach this problem.
Original install of LVM done by vendor and they are my last resort.
