I am looking into getting a macbook. I am planning on getting one that is barebones memory and hard drive wise and then getting better parts from newegg.com.

As I understand it, the macbooks and powerbooks have an onboard accelerometer and will lock the hard drive moments before (hopefully) impact in order to protect the hd from g based damage. If I upgrade the hd, am I going to loose this functionality?

Also, other than ensuring that the connection is Sata, is there anything that I will have to look out for in upgrading the hard drive?

Thanks

You might try looking at for teh drive, etc. They're mac specialists and will be able to guide you either through the site or on the phone. They will have a selection of drives and memory for your exact machine.

Hello,

If you replace the hard drive you will not have to worry about what model to go with. The sensor locks the hard drive no matter the make and model. If you need any further help feel free to email me.

The sensor is soldered to the motherboard, so you should be able to replace your harddrive without any problems.

Chip H.
