replacing insight

i'm currently using an nt4 server as the insight manager server version 7 sp1 - not sql just the msde

it's areasonable spec dl380 2gb ram 2 * 2.4gb processors

about 150 monitored servers - it's not logging correctly - ie summary traffic lights stay the same but if i drill to a server then it may well have a fault

i assume msde cant cope

i'm going to move to sql - what is the preferred/optimum version , server spec etc - assume it still only runs on sql - i'm not adversed to running it on non ms platform - indeed that would be a bonus

should have said as well - most servers are running insight agents 6.4
