I have a Baystack 450-24T on my desk that is to loud for my quiet work environment. I decided to replace the fans(Delta AFB0612H) with some low noise Vantec Steath fans. When I started the switch I got a fan failure on the self test and smoke coming from one of the new fans.

Old: Delta AFB0612H DC 12V .12A 1.44W 4250 RPM
New: Vantec SF6025L DC 12V .08A 0.96W 2600 RPM

Are these specs so far off that the Vantec fan would not work? Has anyone had any luck replacing the stock fans with quieter fans and if so what did you use?

Hi there! I would not recommend that you change the fans, since the cooling on the 450 will be negatively impacted and the whole switch might die a premature death. The fan you substituted should not have failed, since the voltage is the determining factor in whether it works or not. Still, I'd stick with the OEM fans and rather consider relocating the switch.
