I have probably a pretty basic question, but it's been a long time since I've done hardware work on a BCM. My customer has an expansion module with a 16 station card. I need to replace with a 32 station card. My question is, can I just power down the expansion module to swap the card, or do I need to power down the whole system? Also, do I need to delete the 16 station card in programming before I remove the card as well? thank you in advance.

Power down the Expansion
Replace card
Power up
Go into resources and change the MBM to a 32
If the sets do not work after that then reboot the BCM via Utilities/Reset

I might be wrong, but I think that your 32 DSM will need to have all its dip switches turned to the off position. They aren't needed on the BCM 50 expansion modules.

Thanks guys, really appreciate it

I thinks it's left side bank of switches all ON and the right side bank (country mode) is all OFF for North America or just the last one (8) ON for the UK.

Best to check the Installation and Maintenance Guide on your BCM's Documentation web page.

I knew they needed to be checked, but wasn't sure which way they were positioned. Thanks Curly and Brian.
