Can someone confirm the process of replacing the CPPM card that resides in a CS1000E PABX that supports the Signalling Server. I only want to change out the CPPM card and therefore will be swapping across the exisiting hard drive.

Do I need to change the MAC address in Element Manager? if so is that all I would need to change.

I understand that the CS EDD backup backs up the Node information so I can assume that this will still exist on the hard drive when swapped to the new CPPM card?

I will also back up the NRS which appears straight forward.

The documentation does not really specify replacing just the CPPM card from what I can see but only goes into replacing the hard drive or migrating from one type of Signalling Server platfrom to another?

Last year I visited a site that was running 7.5 and CPPM cards for the Call Server and Sig Server. We had to reboot the Sig Server due to Network problems. The Sig Server didn't boot up. No sign of any Ethernet activity as no LED's were showing for both ELAN and TLAN and no output via the Serial port connection.

I had a spare CPPM card and just swapped out the Hard Disk and made sure that the dip switch was set the same and that I had the correct Memory cards. I think there needs to be two of them for Sig Server use?.

I just booted it up and it all came up fine with no errors. I'm certain that I didn't need to do anything in programming.

All the best

If it's working, then leave it alone!.

Firebird is correct, just swap out the hard drive and insure the same amount of memory and be patient while it boots up.

Be sure to swap the CPPM card with the same part number/vintage or it might not work. We've had issues in the past pre-loading a CPPM-SS in a lab environment and then just swapping hard drives. I don't recall the specifics, but I know we've had issues when a hard drive from one vintage of CPPM was used on a different one.

Just make sure your when it boots up that your BIOS Version is 18 or higher and you should be good to go by just swapping the card. If the BIOS is not 18 or higher you will need to upgrade it. You will also need 2GB of memory on the card.
