I have a BCM400 4.0 with redundancy
Lets say the primary drive fails, therefore the secondary drive takes over
Can I replace the primary drive with any 40 gig hard drive or does it have to be a Nortel replacement hard drive.

I believe the drive needs to be the same size, meaning both would need to be 20GB drives.

It needs to be a drive of the same size, but does not need to be Nortel specific, nor does it need software loaded on it. The mirroring process does a bit for bit copy of the good (master) drive to the replacement drive.

I was mistaken. This is from page 221 of the BCM 3.7 install and maintenance guide.

Note: The new hard disk storage capacity (in MB) must be greater than or equal to the
existing hard disk. Equipment provided by Nortel Networks assures correct hard disk
capacity requirements.
