Hi

I have a failed disk 0 in a 3 disk RAID5 Array on a ServeRAID-4L in an IBM Netfinity 5100.

I want to replace this disk, but can only get a replacement that is double the size of the original drive.

Will I simply be able to swap out the original drive for the new larger one.

If not, How should I go about getting things sorted out

Many thanks

Mike.

hi,
yes, if the disks are hot-swap, unplug the 18gb, insert the
36 one and follow reconstruction by ServeRAID Manager.
If the machine is in an assistance contract, instead,
call IBM to get a same capacity disk .
bye

Very useful post, Server is not under contract support any longer so am naturally keen to limit any risk of data loss.

Any further advice or tips would be appreciated.

Mike
