This project is coming up in August so we're trying to prepare.

The system is strictly digital - no VoIP, yet.

We will be replacing the main and expansion cabinets with new ones (maybe the redundant versions) and re-using all of the MBMs which are:
1 DTI
2 DSM 16+
1 32 DSI
1 16 Port Digital Station Interface

We are prepared to migrate the Keycodes via the new Nortel procedure.

Will we be able to do a Backup of the old system to a network drive and Restore from there to the new BCM400?

Would the AA Greetings survive?
Would the users' VM greetings and messages survive?
Would the set button programming survive?
Would we lose anything / everything?

Thanks.

u cannot use a 2.5 backup on a 4.0 system. U'll have to reprogram from scratch.

Im just throwing this out there, but can't you do an upgrade from 2.5 to 3.6 then 4.0 on the 1000. Then back up and restore to the 400? I've never tried it, but I figure there needs to be a way to do it.

2.5 isnt supportaed anymore and you cant do upgrades if you didnt created keycodes already...

Anyways... take the chance and get rid of old problems... BCM technican learned a lot since 2.5 ... so its quite good to set up a brand new system without any corrupt files...

cheers,

Thank you all for your comments.
I was hoping for better news but thank you anyway.
Better to have this info now than to learn it the hard way!

I think the 2.5 HDs were smaller than than the 3.x. At least that's what they said on the course.

I'll throw my hat into the ring here....

There is no upgrade path from 2.5 to 4.0. Its strictly a HDD replacement.

2.5's did indeed have smaller HDD's. They were mostly 8Gb.
Now we get 20Gb and I've seen some with 40Gb.

You can't do a backup/restore, but you can export your greetings. You can also use Unified Messaging to allow users to save messages in their mailboxes to WAV files in their email clients. You can also print out some of the voicemail reports to ease the reprogramming process.
