I have an old G3 iMac whose on-board battery is apparently dead - on boot it complains that my date/time is invalid (which it definitely is unless I've time warped and it's really 1/1/1900 ... :) )

Anyway, can't find the manual(s) for this system so was wondering if there is anywhere I can go to find out how to replace the battery? Is it a 'user' function or do I need to find an Apple dealer (my local one for many years just closed).

Thanks in advance.

Here's where you can download the manual

If you've ever pulled out the guts from your imac - like to add memory, you'll be fine. It's a PITA but nothing that is terribly hard. The only tool you need is a phillips crewdriver.
