Is there an easy way to tell which hard drive is which? I've got a system with 3 20gig hard drives and 1 is going bad. When I open the case to replace it, which one is it? It's the D drive. I'm guessing the primary ide master is the c drive. Does it follow that the primary slave is d? Help!

You're correct. To make sure, take them out one by one and label them. Then run a scandisk on them one at a time.
Might be a start!

Thanks, that's what I thought. The hard drive in question won't run a scandisk. It's locking up and has "some physical damage to the drive" according to the error message! Since it gets used 24/7 (we're a radio station running music on hard drive instead of cd's), I'm going to save myself some trouble and just replace it now. Hopefully I can save the music that is on the drive!

Thats great! I have a dedicated box at home for all my music, beats putting in cds every hour. If you're not able to see the hd as a slave to another hd with an o/s on it, try searching for some data recovery programs. I know there are some posts about a free one in another forum...maybe the windows 2000?
