I have a damaged PCB on a Maxtor Maxline 111 7L250 So 250GB sata HDD which I need to replace.
Three questions:
Is the replacement of such a board straight forward - i.e simply screwing the new on on or does it require specialist tools.
Does any one know of a UK supplier - The PCB is labelled Sabre/ Sata/ ROHS with the No 302006101
Any help would be appreciated

Replcement is staright forward unscrew, and then screw back on. You will needa torx screw driver as drives don;t noramly hve phillips heador flat headcrews, but rather star shaped (Torx) screws.

However it there's no such thing as a replcement PCB, so you'll need to find a complete working drive to take it from.

Additionally replacing PCB's is seldom a solution. As more often than not the drive may have other problems too.

Still its worth a shot, worst case scenario, you buy a new drive to make the PCB from, and you end up with just the new one woking.

You'll need to make sure Part Numbers and model numbers on the drives match.

Ignorance is not necessarily Bliss, case in point:
Unknown has caused an Unknown Error on Unknown and must be shutdown to prevent damage to Unknown.

As Vacunita said, to get the data off the drive, I would attempt this, to get it to work, heck no...

every drive is calibrated at the factory and the parameters are written on one of the chips on the PCB... with the wrong calibration you may get the data from said drive, but not a wholly functioning one...

...and there is no better place to shop for PCBs than eBay.

Most of these have the information you'll need for a match...reduce the list by entering in your specific numbers.
