Looking for a replacement hard drive for an HP Pavillion 4450. The original was a Quantum drive, with very limited identification. i.e. model EX64A109 DGZXX.

This may be a fireball EX? Anyone know?

Can I replace this drive with any IDE/ATA drive?

Thanks,
Durangodude

Your chances are very high indeed, I don't know the machine in question but if you check that it has a normal IDE ribbon then there should be no reason why it wouldn't work.
I have heard on some older systems that had very small drives that they may need the bios flashing to recognise large modern drives, this you would have to download from HP, but only if needed! you will als need to be using an OS that supports larger drives, 98 etc Martin Vote if you found this post helpful please!!

Martin,
Thanks for the tip. The pavillion already has Win 98 installed, so hopefully I can use
a larger drive without flashing the BIOS.
