Does anyone know of a good replacement than the old Cresent software control named CIHTTP.OCX?

It is part of The Crescent Internet ToolPak of third party controls. This was a product from way back in 1996.

I'm trying to update a VB6 program with a more current product where I can get some support. (Crescent folded long ago.) This control made it simple to specify a URL and retrieve information from it and allow you to store it as a file on your local hard drive.

Sure would appreciate any help finding some other tool that allows you to do the same thing. I didn't want to have to create a full blown ASP project just to do this one little thing like retrieve a file from a web page.

Thanks,
gregoriw

The MS INET control contains much of the functionality that you need. Try a search on this forum for INET
