Replaced Server, Now can get reports to point to right location

CR/CE 8.5. Came in monday am and one of the major servers had been replaced with a new one. Different name obviously but an exact duplicate. Thought pointing the old reports to the new datasource would be easy but it just won't stick.

What I have been doing:

Open old report in CR
Go to Verify Database
Old Logon appears with old db name
Change db name, logon etc
Says Db up-to-date
Go to Set Location
It show new Server name

Re-save to CE

Go to view in Console/Object/Database
it still shows old server name.
When a user tries to view/same thing it tries to link to old server.

Do I have to republish all of the reports. And I can guarantee I have tried to publish some after being frustrated and they still show old server on the database tab.

Any insight would be helpful.

Also, crazy to ask I am sure, but is there any way to do this in a bulk format. There must be 300 reports to change.

There is a 3rd party tool by APOS for batch scheduling:

As for changing the database name, I think that what you want to do is use Set Location first and point to the new datasource.
