Hi,

I replaced the router we were using to forward ports to the IPO for two h323 extensions.

The two 9620 extensions were working fine and the router was forwarding 1719 UDP, 1720 TCP and the stun port. We then replaced the router and forwarded exactly the same ports but this time there was no sound on the extensions, you cannot even hear the dial tone.

Please can someone let me know if there is something which needs to be done on the IPO so that the port forwarding is picked up?

Thanks in advance,

It appears we're talking about a firewall issue, not a routing issue correct?

What was the old device, what is the new one?

You need to make sure the RTP ports are being forwarded as well. It sounds like your old router was doing this naturally. The default port range is 49152 through 52346 UDP. If you want call statistics reported back, you will also need 5005 UDP. This is for RTCP.

Oh dear. Lots of dodgy advice going on here.

You haven't mentions what your old and new routers are?

You shouldn't have to open up all those RTP (UDP) ports for audio. NAT will deal with that. you only need to open the signalling ports as you already have done.

Not all routers are created equal. Avaya's H.323 remote implementation is pretty picky about what routers / firewalls it will work with.

HSM, Avaya mentiones that you need to open up those RTP ports.
But perhaps i am wrong and i would like to see some docs :)

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

Hi Guys,

Thanks for all the responses here. It was the RTP ports, I had missed these off when I replicated the router as that was in the port range forwarding section of the router.
