Hi all,

I have been losing BIOS settings on a few Teknor Industrial Computer TEK-4L motherboard / CPU card. I have replaced the CMOS batteries. Now, 2 of 4 will retain the BIOS settings... The other 2 lose it. Any advice on what to look into next?

Thanks in advance!!

are the contacts on the battery holder clean?

This is a Signature and not part of the answer, it appears on every reply.

This is an Analogy so don't take it personally as some have.

Why change the engine if all you need is to change the spark plugs.

Take batteries out and verify correct voltage with a voltmeter. Nothing worse than fitting dead batteries and looking all over for the fault elsewhere...

Acewarlock - The battery socket(s) are clean... Thanks.

G0AOZ - Of course, I took it for granted that the "new" batteries are in fact good. I will have to double check just to make sure. Thanks for the reminder...

Try measuring with an analog meter. Flaky batteries will show good with digital meters but show low voltage with analog.

I never assume that. New Batteries do not necessarily mean that they are GOOD batteries, especially if they have been sitting on a shelf or in cold storage for 2 years already.
