replace xlC 9.0.0.1 with xlC8.0.0.1

Our AIX 5.3 server has been running TL7 for awhile. Our apps people said their version of Roguewave requires xlC8.0.x but it appears TL7 installed xlC 9.0.0.1. Trying to uninstall leads to several dependent files. Any one know the best way to replace v9.0.01 with 8.0.0.10?

hi,
try this way:
1) make a system backup
2) uninstall 9.0.0.1, without remove dependencies
3) install 8.0.0.0
4) patch it at 8.0.0.10

or

1)...
2+3) install (force) 8.0.0.0
4)...

thanks, I tried them. The force doesn't work for either 8.0 or 8.0.0.10 because it said 9.0.0.1 has filesystem dependencies. 9.0.0.1 can't be removed without removing the depedencies because of too many system packages that require it.

looks like my only option is to refresh AIX
