This may be a basic question to you all but answers would be very useful. We currently have a small Windows Server 2000 network and are looking to move to 2003. Is it possible to build the new 2003 architecture exactly the same as our existing 2000 one and then just replace all the servers ? Will this cause any problems ? What is the recommended process for upgrading from 2000 to 2003 ??

Many thanks

Personaly I would just do an inline upgrade on your DC's starting with your FSMO first. the upgrade process in painless.

2000 and 2003 server will operate together with no issues, and be doing an inline upgrade you would automatically transfere all your users, groups and GPO's. this would be a lot less painfull and expensive than reinventing the wheel

just my 2 pennies worth
