I'm in a peculiar position. I recently bought a business that uses the Micros POS. They had let their maintenance contract lapse and Micros no longer supports our system and will not answer any questions. I wrote my own POS for my other locations but all the employees at this new location know the Micros well so I want to leave well enough alone.

In this configuration there is the server with MIcros 3700 and three workstations.
When they booted one of the POS terminals this morning they got the message 'NK.BIN' not found on the CF'. In working on this we have determined the CF Card is fine but something is wrong with the terminal itself.

So my question is: If I buy a new Micros 5-A terminal and install it at that location will it function? Will it poll the server to get what it needs or does some software package need to be installed on the terminal first?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Don

What version of Micros do you have? In Micros go help, about and should show you the version number.
If its a 5-A that has gone bad you can buy a new one (or ebay) pop it in, Run CAL (which should be on it) and you will be good to go.

Follow this post, I will be posting a how to in a couple days.

All the software, drivers, and bios updates have been posted on this forum. Its the best way to go about it if you dont have any support contracts, and depending on your version of Micros and server OS will get you in compliance.
