I tried several options to replace a field called
Forex to replace by 1.36, but whatever I do,change the
field into number or character or decimal, the result
is always .36 and not 1.36

Secondly: I unchecked before import the countrycode to
be included in field Phone, but some are still included
with e.g. [96] or other [xxx] whereas my original
phonefield reads like 009612345678
However some fields are not with the [xx], why ???

What version of ACT!
Are you trying to replace the field name or the data?
If data, what is the field type?

Importing the phone field cc might be related to having the country name in the country field.

ACT! ACT! 7, or later, I usually recomend using itImport for any imports... it's more reliable

Sorry I use latest ACT 9 (2007) standardversion.
I try to fill the field FOREX with 1.36
It is a number field, but also decimal or textfield does dot change the .36 to 1.36 which should be the fieldvalue for all records/contacts.

I try to do the change the value by Edit/Replace field
Does not work...

Even if I change manually , it is not working either.
if I type 1.36 I get .36
(whatever the type of the field is dedcimal, number, text)

William here again: found the solution, probably the
database somewhere corrupt, so I deleted the field and
deleted the field also in the screendisplay and closed and
restarted the database, created a new field, did again the Edit/Replace and
it works !!
