I had a BCM 400 crash late yesterday afternoon and the only spare I had is a BCM 1000, so I shipped it overnite and it should be there in about 3 hours. My question is, can I download a backup to the replacement BCM 1000 from the BCM 400 and if not all of it can I at least download the Telephoney part of it. Both BCM's are at 3.6 with Clum patch 2

You can make it work but you might get some errors but I have had it work. You need to retore regardless. It will work I do not know if there is some sort of corruption but I have done it and It has worked fine.

Don't restore licensing unless you want to fight corrupt keycode files. Voicemail database should restore without any issues. Telephony is a crap shoot - I've had some restore without issues, and others won't restore at all. If the BCM 1000 is a LAN/LAN box, your chances are better than it it's a LAN/WAN (different profiles on the 1000s than the 400's).

Good luck.

I'll try restoring first, if that doesn't work than I'll reprogram.

Thanks

let me know how it works, in theory it should work, the software part wouldnt give you an issue i wouldnt think its the differences in hardware that will throw a monkey wrench in it all.

I tried doing a restore and got errors and I couldn't make any changes, I wound up doing an Initilize and reprogramming the whole BCM. So much for trying to save sometime.

Thanks all
