Win2k on an AMD 1.5 ghz w/256mb ram. I was moving some shortcuts into the start menu when windows displayed an error

explorer.exe has generated errors and will be closed by windows. you will need to restart the program.

I rebooted the system and upon reentry into windows the above error would display, crash the system, then display again. This continues as long as the machine is on, rendering it completely unfunctional. I have booted in Safe mode to the same effect. I tryed to do a "repair" with my w2k cd but the same thing is happening. Any suggestions would be greatly welcome. Thanks

Just something to consider:

My pc (Dual-Boot 2K/98SE) has been doing the same and more for past 2 days. I forgot about the heat factor this time of year. Popped the cover and placed a fan blowing in...Problem solved! May not apply to you.

...Mac

Humpty Dumpty was pushed!!

Thanks, I pulled the case off and checked my fans. They are all working, the room is kept at around 70 degrees. Rebooted and still am having the same problem.
