I'm running ntbackup.exe on a Windows 2K SP4 server.
Scenario:
-- I swap the tape every Friday.
-- On that Friday I create a backup job to run at 11pm Weekly, selecting only M, Tu, W, Th, F and to terminate the following Thursday - so the job should run 5 times using the same tape. The job will run that Friday evening but not run again even though it appears on the Schedule Jobs tab in ntbackup.
-- I tried creating a backup job to run at 11pm Daily and to terminate the following Thursday. Same thing - the job will run that Friday evening but not run again even though it appears on the Schedule Jobs tab in ntbackup.
-- The job is set to Run as: DOMAIN\administrator and when I initially set up the job it prompts me for the network admin password which I supply.
Why will it only run on the first day of the job and not repeat as it should? There are absolutely NO events logged in Event Viewer at / around 11pm that would indicate that the job is even attempting to run.....

Help!

Mark, I embarrassed to admit that I have NO idea how to go about getting the 'backup schedule text string'. Would you mind explaining that when you have a minute & I'll get it posted asap....?

Is this it....?

C:\WINNT\system32\ntbackup.exe backup "@C:\Documents and Settings\aphrodite\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows NT\NTBackup\data\2007Jan25.bks" /a /d "Set created 1/19/2007 at 3:03 PM" /v:yes /r:no /rs:no /hc:eek:n /m normal /j "2007Jan25" /l:f /g "603f5c26-57c0-4674-9062-b3cfec37d9b5

Yes that is the right information.

At the end of your string add /um which is the Unmanaged switch.

You should take a look at the logs for the failed backups for confirmation of any errors, but I believe the /um will resolve your issue.

I hope you find this post helpful.

Regards,

Mark
