repeating records

I am doing a paid invoice report for commissions. The problem is that I need to restrict (selection expert) certain invoice items that salesman are not given commission on. That means I have to add in the database that includes item #'s. When I do that, the total of the invoice is multiplied by how many items are on the invoice. Any suggestions?
