I have two D-Link DWL-900AP+ (both Rev C F/W 3.02) with one set in repeater mode, the other in AP mode. Parameters set include, 4X mode off, long preamble, and no WEP. A variety of laptops with different PCMCIA cards, internal WiFi boards etc. Only two out of half a dozen will communicate through the wireless network, although all cards can see a good signal from the repeater. All cards and laptops work with the DWL-900AP+ set in AP mode. One of the PCMCIA cards which won't play is a D-Link DWL-660 which I would have expected to work, and conversely a Sony Vaio laptop with internal WiFi surprisingly DOES work!
So what's the crack here? Have I got a setting wrong? If just the D-Link cards worked, I'd put it down to a non-standard mode of operation, but the Sony put paid to that together with the DWL-660. Also tried swapping the DWL-900AP+ units over to try and check for a dodgy unit. Is anyone else using repeater mode and having problems?
