Looking to repartition a 2003 server running a Raid 5 configuration (no dynamic discs). Have read some posts saying that Partition Magic may not work on 2003 server. It says that it will support raid-0 & raid-5 configurations, but has anyone done this successfully? I also read a post that said Arconis Disk Director works better for this job? Any ideas on how to go about repartitioning? Thanks!

We have Acronis Disk Director installed on several servers of our LAN. I have personally used it to resize partitions and to create new partitions on RAID-5 and RAID-10 configurations. It works very well, but it is pricey. I guess you get what you pay for.

Regards,
David.

Ghost does this nicely also, ghost the disks/partitions off to dvd or a spare hard drive then ghost them back. You can resize on the fly when you ghost back. The more data you have the longer it takes of course. Done this many times without issues.

Will try the acronis software, as I need to minimize the amount of downtime for the server and ghosting takes a few hours as compared to a few minutes with a partition resizing utility. The acronis software will work with a hardware RAID configuration, correct?

Will second Dtracy's recommendation...
Acronis makes some really good products, use both the Director and True Image. I recommend you run disk diagnostics (surface test) and chkdsk and backup before running any disk manipulating utility.
