REPAIRS ON A MESSAGING 2000 VOICE MAIL

I have questions about repairing a Messaging 2000 VM. This customer has a Legend w/ R6.0 and an M2K w/ R3.0. The video can almost not be read on the monitor. I replaced the monitor with another unit, but it only helped a little. You can barely make out the menus. It is really bad. So my guess is the VGA card is defective. Can the VGA be replaced with any off-the-shelf VGA card or do I need something special for this setup. I have never worked on one of these before.

Just how popular or not is the M2K Voice Mail?
What are the proper procedures that I need to do inorder to do a shutdown and bring the system back up?
Once I get this problem resolved the customer has a bunch of changes for me to make, so then I need to learn how to manage the thing. Does this system have remote capabilities?
It has an internal modem hooked up. Can you use simple terminal emulation software to talk to it or is something special needed??

Take the VGA card out if you can get all info that is helpful do a GOOGLE seach or go to a few computer stores see if you can find something with the same or very simmilar specs.
