in replacing the RTC battery on an IBM Thinkpad, one of the ribbon cables between the keyboard and mainboard broke. its about 1/4inch wide and has 6 traces and connects to the little mouse button.

i'm trying to reconnect the ends by scraping off the plastic on one side of the ribbon ends to expose the copper traces and tryingn to resolder them together with very, very tiny wires. i doubt seriously that this will work.

any ideas on another way to fix the cable?
a little female-female connector would work, but it would have to be exactly the right size for the 6 traces.

tia...erick thanks,
eric

better to cut the wire and unravel it back enough to get enough stripped to get a good solder joint. Ed Fair
