My Linux server is shutdown because of power failer but after that when I start I found message "System is halted" so I can restart again than server is started but he gave me prompt for Mainteince like
"Give root password for maintenance
(or type Control D for normal startup):"

I gave root password but when I log of server shutdown itself.
So, I restart again and I read the message before that prompt is to run fsck (without -a and -p option).
I run fsck after login but it show me only version of fsck so, send me tips for that and give me from where I run fsck.

Regards,
Ashah

After you give root password look at /etc/fstab and verify your hard drive label, you should see something like :
LABEL=/ / ext2 defaults 1 1
LABEL=/home /home ext2 defaults 1 2
/dev/fd0 /mnt/floppy auto noauto,owner 0 0
/dev/hda1 /win2k auto noauto,owner 0 0
none /proc proc defaults 0 0
none /dev/pts devpts gid=5,mode=620 0 0
/dev/hda2 swap swap defaults 0 0
/dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom iso9660 noauto,owner,kudzu 0 0

If you look at the mountpoint for your swap partition this will tell you the naming scheme for your type of drive (hda=primary IDE parition, sda=primary SCSI parition).
Once you've determined that you can run "fsck -y /dev/hda" (for an IDE drive or /dev/sda for SCSI). That should run fsck and fix any errors. The -y flag says to answer yes to the large number of questions this program asks, saying yes should be safe. Hope this helps. d3funct

The software required `Windows 95 or better', so I installed Linux.
