Hi Everyone hope youre all good.

As a backup for the regular backupman, I have a possibly big problem.

The Database engine has become corrupt and wont start. I have followed other tips on the forum to no avail and have come to the conclusion that the best solution may be to reinstall the Arcserve software and restart from scratch.

Is there an easy way to uninstall it? I cant seem to find the uninstall programme either on the HD or installation CD. I would obviosly prefer to find the unistall programme rather than just delete the files and stumble about in the registry.

Can anyone give any suggestions ?

Software is ARCserve 2000 Workgroup edn. V7 Build 1100

OS Windows 2000 Server V5 (Build 2195 SP4)

Prior to uninstalling save each of your backup jobs to file in a different directory. It will have an asx extention.

To uninstall either use the Windows installer found in Control Panel or just run the install again, and the options to uninstall and repair will be there.

Hi Imacg,
If the problem with arcserve database then wait..Before uninstalling and loss everything,
1-Install Arcsereve base in another machine
2-Stop the database Engine
3-share the Database folder
4-On your current Arcserve database which has a database corrupted ,stop the database engine
5-copy the database engine to another location,or delete it if you are sure it is really correpted or rename it if you have enougth space.

6-Copy the database folder from new machine which you have shared it

7-Now your arcserve server having new database, start database Engine.

Note:You have to create your media Pools & merge tapes you want to restore which have been done before the new database.

Only thing I would add to mohamdr's post is, don't include the r*.* files. Copy every except these files, since when the Database Engine starts up it will automatically re-create these files.

If you are interested in learning more on these files, see the FAQ on the database file types under the Database Engine section of the Computer Associates: ARCserve back-up forum.
