I have a program that uses IE (Qbooks), and it is reporting errors having to do with IE. Qbooks support states that IE is the problem, even though I have no known problems with it, other than in conjucntion with Qbooks.

They suggest that because Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel won't Repair IE (Repair is the only option of the three that are available when I hit the Change/Remove button), that it is somehow damaged. In view of this I dowloaded, and installed IE 6.0 over IE 5.50.4807.2300, but the problem persists.

Does the fact that I can not Repair IE 6.0 in Add/Remove Programs suggest a problem? If so, how to remove IE and do a fresh install? Thanks!

Your program probably doesn't know what IE 6.0 is... try installing 5.5 and you should have no problems... Microslop is notorious for making MAJOR changes in sofware releases and not telling anyone, so if your program is trying to access something built for 5.0 and prior... and you have 6.0 they've probably changed it

Qbooks says IE 6.0 ok, but your suggestion rings true, and I have considered it, given the Qbooks error says it needs IE "5.0 (or higher)". Meanwhile, I am not sure how to get rid of IE 6.0 in favor of IE 5.0. When I tried to download and reinstall 5.0, and get rid of 5.5, which produced the same error, (in other words trying your suggested fix before I posted my first message), the only files I found were 5.5 patches, and 6.0 installs.

Where are full programs? IE 5.0 was not on the MS/IE download site. Further, I have heard one can not backward install older versions of IE. I would love to unistall 6.0 at this time and try 5.0, as I need to get some accounting done (it has been a month since I did my books!).

Any insights into the Repair issue of Add/Remove programs referenced in my first post?
