Repair Office Assistant by Running Office 2000 Setup 1

Often when I try to open a word document I get the following: The Office Assistant could not be started. Please repair by running Office 2000 setup and selecting Repair Office 2000. Will this change settings on my computer and could it cause problems considering all the upgrades and personal settings?

Typically, you just go to Help menu and select Detect and Repair. I'm not sure what you mean about upgrades. Do you mean you were on '97 and upgraded to '00?

No Chip, I ment Windows updates.

Office 2000 setup will not affect other settings on your computer. If you just do the Detect and Repair it won't even affect Office settings.
