Hi All,

I'm having problems reordering pages in Viso 2000.

I have a file where I use 12 different pages (network diagrams) and I'd like to change the order. Visio will not allow me to drag and top the tabs at the bottom. When I try and do this, I get small grey icon of a downwards pointing arrow, then a cirle around it with a line through it. This seems to indicate I cannot reorder???

Also, when I right mouse click on a page tab and select "reorder" from the menu a dialog box appears, but it is empty; i.e., no pages appear in the window.

Anyone have any thoughts? Suggestions?

Curious that the little grey icon appears that seems to indicate I can't reorder... I can't find anything mentioned in Help.

Thanks in advance,
ian.

To Re-Order pages right click on any page tab and select Re-Order Pages dialog box appears move the pages around by selecting the them and using the move up & move down buttons
Click ok when you have them in the selected order

Hello,

I've tried what iamstefan has suggested, and although the dialog page appears, the window is blank; i.e., the pages are not visible to reorder.

One thing to note: I've renamed the pages, they're no longer "Page 1", "Page 2"... etc.

Any other thoughts / suggestions?

Thanks
ian

The reorder dialog should work, no matter whether you have renamed the page. Unless, of course, they are background pages. Background pages cannot be reordered. You can check if they are background pages if you check the page property for each page.

So you actually see tabs at the bottom of the page, but when you right click on one of these tabs and select reorder, the list is empty? this does sound like you are trying to reorder background pages.

Yes I agree with John, the only solution can be you are working with background pages. (Have you assigned information on the background & set the foreground page as a transparency?).

You may find all you need to do is reassign the background and foreground pages using File>Page Setup>Properties tab.

John and Stefan,

You were correct. The page properties were set to background. I changed them to foreground and was able to drag and drop to reorder, as well, the reorder dialog box was populated with the page names. Thanks again for your help!

Interesting, so you had a document where you could see all the pages, but did you notice that you could not print them? Background pages can only be printed as part of a foreground page. Since you were not seeing anything in the reorder dialog, none of your pages were foreground pages. So it appears someone converted all the pages to background pages to prevent them from printing.

Actually, I was able to print the pages. I didn't try to print them all, only individual pages, one at a time, but no problems printing.

I inherited the file 3rd hand, so I share your curiosity as to how all the pages came to be set to background (yes, there was no page set to foreground - it must have been deleted). New pages were added by inserting, and then copying over the drawing from the other pages.

It is rather puzzeling since pages were not really used as a background, at least in the sense as a explained in the help files...

Thanks again,
Ian.
