Question:

mount points mounting in wrong order , each time we edit /etc/filesystem and when we exportvg / importvg they come back wrong, ie the original stanza

Hence is there a way to reorder the lv within VGDA ( Vol Group Descriptor Area )

You obviously don't understand the exportvg and importvg commands. If you edit /etc/filesystems and then export a volume group it removes the entries for the FS's that were in that VG from /etc/filesystems. When you run importvg it appends the entries back to /etc/filesystems.

It is working just fine. Just what are you trying to do?

Yes thats were the problem lies, the entries need amending in the etc/filesystems each time, problem is i have created a wrong entry in the mount points, and when i importvg and varyonvg and then try and run mount -t , it bombs out, hence i have to go back into /etc/filesystem and create a new entry in the type field.

Does this makes sense ?

i cant send some output if you like

Cheers

hi ,

why don't you change the filesystems mount point
smitty jfs , etc...

and then re-import volume group

They have never explained why they are exporting/importing the volume group. It makes no sense to me.
