I am trying to renumber adjuncts so that I can use the numbers for phantom mailboxes. I got all the way through the list and it stopped at 240. It will not let me assign that as the new adjunct number. I can't figure out why. There is not an extension 240 that I can find in the system. How can I figure out how to use this number?

It (240) has to be in use somewhere - maybe as a calling group or existing adjunct. Try doing a print for extension 240 and also for calling group 240. If it exists - you will need to renumber it first to something else - to free up the 240.

I'm doing a full print now to see if I can find it. I could not find it under the extension list or the group calling list. That is the weird thing. If I can't find it I will post the print to see if you guys can help.

I have several times used calling groups as phantom extension mailboxes. Use dclling groups with no members, over flow to 770, and you can even use the message waiting receiver feature. Renumber as needed. Most systems don't get close to using 30 calling groups.

Try dialing extension 240 from intercom - and see what - if anything - happens.

1. When I dial 240 from intercom, nothing happens. I get the error tone. The number doesn't seem to exist in the system.

2. I know I have more adjuncts because when I do an inspect on adjuncts it shows 353 through 423. I know we don't use those numbers.

What else should I do?

Thank you guys for all of your help. I went back into the switch this morning after racking my brain yesterday afternoon. Even though the number is showing up as an extension in the system, I went to sysrenumber and chose extension. It let me rename 240 to something else. For some reason it wouldn't let me do that yesterday. I was able to use 240 as an adjunct for a phantom mailbox as I needed to. It's weird, but I finally got it to work.

Thanks again for all of your help.

If you think that it might have been an existing station or adjunct, go to Menu - Maintaince - Port - Station

Dial the (now new) extension number, Enter

Press STATUS

You will see the Logical ID and the Slot/Port of the extension, as well as what type of station it is. If it is an adjunct, you may see "Unequipped", but you will also see a Logical ID that places it on a module, and the Slot/Port will show the slot that the module is in, and a port number HIGHER than the actual number of physical ports on that module.
