Rendering scene with 3D FOG!!!!

Everytime I apply 3d fog to my composite layers the movie wont render out completely. I thought maybe i had a corrupt file but the sequence renders fine without the fog applied. Do I have to cache the data before rendering? Or is there a setting in the render que that im missing? Any Help here would be really appreciated. Thanks
