How do,

Does anyone know of the registry key I need to change to enable the label of the My Computer Icon to be changed dynamically depending on what user is logged on Ie <username> on <machine name> instead of just My Computer. I have found the key for windows 2000 and it works great but the same key appears to be missing from NT4.

cheers

Purplebroom,

here's the info you need: go to HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{20D04FE0......

2. Select the <No Name> value in the right hand pane and delete it
(It should have contained the current caption).

3. On the Edit menu, click Add Value.

4. Leave the Value Name blank and Select Data Type of REG_EXPAND_SZ

5. In the String box, type any one of the following lines (or make your own).

%UserName% %ComputerName%
User: %UserName% on: %ComputerName%

6. Refresh the screen or logoff/logon.

That should do it for ya..
