Hello all,

Is there any way to rename a sheet without opening the workbook? I have automated reports that usually have an invalid sheet name so the workbook won't open through VBA?

Any help would be appericated.

Thanks
Matt

Sorry not to include this.
But I am using Excel 2003 on a W2k box.

Thanks
Matt

Hi there,

What do you mean an "invalid sheet name"? What does that mean?

And to answer your question, no, there is no way to change a sheet name if the workbook is not open.

Hi,

Sheet Names can be changed by ANYONE.

I recommend referencing your sheets using the Sheet.CodeName rather than the Sheet.Name.

The CodeName property can ONLY be changed in VB.
