Hi,
After booting a system from a different disk and then importing the original rootvg disk, I maganed to rename all the LVs back to their original names except for hd6 which is now called pagelv00.
This causes several problems but I haven't managed to changed the name because it is in use. Booting from CD and doing it from there doesn't work either.

Does anyone know a trick to do this?

TIA
Cheers

perhaps creating another one , make paginglv00 not to be used on reboot, change rc.boot to make the new one used at boot time, reboot the system, and rename paginglv00 ?

but in fact i'm curious to know what kind of problem do you have when you don't have hd6.

Hi,
I get warning messages when doing several operations in general (can't remember which) but today we actually found out we can't run mkszfile at all. It stops saying hd6 has illegal major and minor number.

I'll try your suggestion but it seems like it internally call the paging space hd6 even though it shows up as another name, which makes it difficult to operate on.

Thanks for your suggestion

Thanks, I just tried that.
The problem is that no matter what I do it hangs on to the device that was the old paging space and calls it hd6.

I think I have to rebuild this one.

Cheers

Hi

have you tried creating hd6 as a new lv with type paging

mklv -y hd6 -t paging rootvg <PS size in logical partitions>

Any operation on hd6 fail. I still uses hd6 as paging space.

Cheers

I just had an idea I'll try out in the morning: hd6 is hard linked in the ODM to point at a specific LV. I'll try and point it to paging00 that I just created instead and reboot.

Hope it works :)

Cheers
