Renaming files with VB / Trouble with FTP while renaming

I have several users dialing in to out FTP server getting item DB updates. I read the files from my AS/400 and write them to an Access DB. Then I use DynaZip to zip them, then rename them to the final filename.
The problem is that if any of my uses are downloading the files, the rename fails; my program ends/crashes and the salesmen don't get their updates.

HELP! HELP! HELP! :-(
